first time saudia arab allowed sports for girls in private in schools

Washington: Saudi Arabia has allowed girls to practice sports in private schools for the first time. An education ministry announced in the nation”s official press agency that the new regulations for physical education required girls to ‘dress modestly’. It said that there should be appropriate equipment and facilities in schools for the training, and female Saudi teachers should supervise these activities.
According to CNN, Education Ministry spokesman Mohammed al-Dakhini told SPA that the decision stems from the teachings of their religion, which allowed women to practice such activities in accordance with sharia. This is the first official government sanction of women”s sports in schools, as Saudi Arabia has been taking steps to reform its view on women and sports.
