free junior coaching involvement under 9 and under 11

FREE junior coaching and involvement.
That’s what Denby are promising in an effort to attract more youngsters to the club.
And it’s working, with 40 already involved at Under 9 and Under 11.
Harvey Jones, 16, and George Potter, 19, are two of the club’s most promising prospects, they’ve got Gaz Moxon away backpacking around Australia and then there are the likes of Shepley footballers Carl Auckland and Ben Roebuck, who’ve been absent on holiday recently.
The junior set-up, though, is something to which Denby are paying close attention.
“We’ve had a couple coming through when we could do with 10, or at least half a dozen,” said skipper Tim Jones.
“There hasn’t been a junior set-up for 10 years or more, but now we’ve got loads coming to practice on a Friday and a Sunday and we don’t charge them one penny.
“We thought that was the best way to help attract youngsters to Denby rather than have them going to other clubs around the district, and hopefully in five or six years time a lot of them will have stuck with us and will be coming through to play for Denby at senior level.
“We need a few less of us old dodderers and a few more young bloods in the dressing room.”
Tied in with these plans are the club’s off-field hopes.
“We are looking at building new changing rooms and we need a new clubhouse desperately,” he continued.
“All these things we are working on and putting plans together and our ground is fine, with a good wicket – not unlike the old Scholes ground which has now been developed superbly.”
